Thermowells are used to to protect the measuring instrument from corrosion, high pressure or high fluid velocity and to allow the measuring instrument removal for recalibration or replacement without affecting the process system. Thermowells are typically constructed of solid drilled-out bar stock and are designed to protect a temperature sensor from flow.
Thermo-well/protection tube is an important component of any temperature measuring point. Temperature sensors such as thermocouples and bimetal thermometers are protected by thermos-wells against damage caused by material velocity, high pressure, and corrosion.
These Thermowells are machined from solid bar stock and mounted between mating flanges for process insertion. This design is suitable for all type of RTD’s, Thermocouples, mechanical as well as digital thermometers. Vanstone type thermowell is produced without any welding process by processing the whole round bar. Since it does not involve any welding process.

Thermowells are tubular fittings used to protect temperature sensors installed in industrial processes. A thermowell consists of a tube closed at one end and mounted in the process stream. If the sensor fails, it can be easily replaced without draining the vessel or piping. The Protection Tube material is selected on the basis of the environment.
The Screw – Well Thermowell design can be used for all kind of solid-machined thermowells with flange connection, in Vanstone design or for weld-in or threaded process connection. This helical design has been used successfully for decades in a wide variety of industrial applications to effectively suppress vortex-induced vibration excitation.
